Privacy Policy for OllamaGo

This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application OllamaGo (referred to as "the App"), developed by Veltric (referred to as "we," "us," or "our").

Thank you for using OllamaGo. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it to connect to an Ollama server specified by you.

1. Information We Process

OllamaGo is designed to minimize data collection. We do not collect or store personal information that directly identifies you through our own servers. The information the App handles is limited to:

• Server Configuration Data:
  • The IP address or hostname and port number of the Ollama server you configure.
  • The name of the AI model you select for interaction.
  • This configuration data is stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences system. It is not transmitted to us or any third party by the App itself.
• Chat Data:
  • The prompts (text input) you enter into the chat interface.
  • The responses generated by the AI model on your configured Ollama server.
  • This chat data is transmitted directly between the App on your device and the Ollama server you have specified. OllamaGo acts as a client; we do not receive, view, or store your chat prompts or the AI's responses on our servers. The chat history is managed within the current session and is not persistently stored by the App unless explicitly implemented in future versions (which would be noted here).
• Usage Data:
  • The App does not include any analytics, tracking mechanisms, or advertising SDKs. We do not collect data about how you use the App.

2. How We Use Information

The information processed by the App is used solely for its core functionality:

• Server Configuration Data: Used locally by the App to establish and maintain a connection with your chosen Ollama server and selected model.
• Chat Data: Transmitted to your configured Ollama server to get AI responses, and responses are displayed back to you within the App.
• Permissions: Used only as described in Section 5.

3. Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage: Server configuration settings are stored locally on your device. You can clear this data by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's data through your device settings.
• Transmission Security: The App connects to the Ollama server address you provide. Important: Based on the current configuration (usesCleartextTraffic="true"), these connections are made over HTTP (unencrypted) by default. This means data transmitted between the App and your Ollama server (including prompts and responses) could potentially be intercepted if you are on an insecure network (like public Wi-Fi). We strongly recommend using the App only with locally hosted Ollama servers or on trusted, secure networks. Future versions may offer HTTPS support if your Ollama server is configured for it.

4. Third-Party Connections (Your Ollama Server)

• The App's primary function is to connect to an Ollama server that you specify and control (or choose to use).
• This Privacy Policy does not cover the data handling practices of the Ollama server you connect to. You are responsible for understanding the privacy implications and policies of the specific Ollama server instance you are using. OllamaGo simply facilitates the connection.

5. Device Permissions

OllamaGo requires the following Android permissions:

• INTERNET: Essential for connecting to your specified Ollama server over your network (local or internet).
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check if a network connection is available before attempting to connect to the server.

These permissions are used strictly for the purposes described above.

6. Data Retention

• Server configuration data is retained locally on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data.
• Chat data is transient within the App's active session and is not persistently stored by OllamaGo itself.

7. Children's Privacy

OllamaGo is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any information from children under this age.

8. Your Rights

You have control over the information managed by the App:

• You can view and change the server configuration within the App's settings.
• You can clear all locally stored configuration data by uninstalling the App or clearing its data via your device's settings.
• You can manage the App's permissions (Internet, Network State) through your device's settings.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally, for example, to reflect changes in the App's functionality or legal requirements. We will post any updates here with a revised "Effective Date." We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
